Today was going with Software Update point Role in my Primary site and found role is missing under “Add site system roles” . Did i Miss something here ?

In  SCCM 2007,you will see software update point once you are done with installation of Primary or Child sites(Refer this what i mean Primary Child here

    http://eskonr.com/2012/04/notes-on-sccm-2012-hierarchy-sites-centralprimary-and-secondary-sites/)

In SCCM 2012 , If you have Central Administration site (CAS) Hierarchy, you must configure Software Update Role in CAS and then it replicates the configuration file to all its child sites .once the are complied by Despooler successfully ,you can see Software Update Point Role in its child sites(immediate reporting site).

The same applies to Secondary site when it is reporting to Primary site.

The software update point is required on the central administration site and primary sites to enable software updates compliance assessment and

to deploy software updates to clients. The software update point is optional on secondary sites. The software update point site system role must be created on a server that has WSUS installed. The software update point interacts with the WSUS services to configure software update settings and request synchronization of software updates metadata. When you have a Configuration Manager hierarchy, install and configure the software update point on the central administration site first, then on child primary sites, and then optionally on secondary sites. When you have a stand-alone primary site (no central administration site), install and configure the software update point on the primary site first, and then optionally on secondary sites. Some settings are only available when you configure the software update point on a central administration site, or stand-alone primary site, and there are different options that you must consider depending on where the software update point is installed.
